| Special Grants for Athlete/Coach Partnerships: |
| With the 2012 London Olympics in mind, the Trustees of the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund decided last year to offer life-changing opportunities to a few selected young athletes and their coaches. The aim was to broaden their horizons by providing funding towards training, specialist coaching and competition which they would not otherwise be able to afford. |

| London Marathon 2007 – “Run for Ron” team: |
| There will be thirty-two runners representing the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund in the 2007 London Marathon next April 22nd. Among them will be ex-boxer Patrick Gallagher who will be realising his dream of taking part in “The London” for the first time. One of his colleagues, John Fogarty, had this to say about Patrick: |

| Tribute to Edward Prickett (1983-2004) |
| Following the recent tragic death of Ed Prickett, a talented young middle and long distance athlete, Jean has been overwhelmed by the tributes and donations received by the Fund in his memory. This decision made by his parents at such a time of great sorrow is greatly appreciated. Such has been the response that many other talented young athletes will be helped to reach their potential, something that has been denied to Ed, and maybe this will in some way alleviate the loss to so many people of such a gifted and promising athlete. |

| It is 13 years since Ron Pickering died and the young athletes who benefit from his Memorial Fund will never know his talents as a teacher, coach, motivator and TV commentator, nor will they listen to any of his "funny stories". |
