The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Russell Radford, organised the above-mentioned event as part of his support of the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund during his year in office.

Daley and Geoff readily agreed to support Ron’s Fund in this way, also Stuart Storey and Paul Dickenson, the BBC sports commentators, who presented and carried out interviews during the evening.  

It proved to be an extremely informative and entertaining evening which was enlivened by the appearance of Kriss Akabusi during the second half session.   

The delay in publicising the event meant the numbers attending were lower than expected but their enthusiasm and appreciation of the athletes appearing in support of the Fund, contributed to an amazing atmosphere and an auction of memorabilia that produced over £1,000 for the charity.  

We have got to have another such “Evening” in 2009 so watch this space!
